“The Principles of Truth are Seven ; he who knows these, understandingly, possesses the Magic Key before whose touch all the Doors of the Temple fly open." The Kybalion

The Hermetic Principle of Mentalism is a profound concept that declares “THE ALL is MIND; The Universe is Mental.” ~ The Kybalion
The quote suggests that the All, the ultimate source of all things, is Mind, and everything that exists in the universe is a product of the thoughts, ideas, and intentions of the Universal Mind.
This principle emphasizes the power of our thoughts and consciousness and how they play a monumental role in shaping the reality we live in.
But how can we practically apply this knowledge to transform our lives?
First, let’s dive deeper into understanding the principle of mentalism and then we will explore the practical approaches.
The All," as presented in "The Kybalion," refers to the ultimate, all-encompassing, and omnipresent source of existence and reality. It is the unifying and infinite principle that underlies and interconnects all things in the universe.
"The All" as a concept, although not always referred to by the same name, has parallels in various spiritual and philosophical traditions:
God, Tao, Brahman, Buddha Nature, The Great Spirit, Higher Consciousness and so on.
While the terminology and descriptions may vary across mentioned spiritual traditions, the underlying concept of an ultimate, unifying, and all-encompassing source or principle is a common thread. These concepts emphasize the interconnectedness of all things and the recognition of a fundamental, transcendent reality that underlies the universe.
“How often have the majority of people heard repeated the statement that their Deity (called by many names) was "All in All" and how little have they suspected the inner occult truth concealed by these carelessly uttered words? The commonly used expression is a survival of the ancient Hermetic Maxim quoted above. As the Kybalion says: "To him who truly understands this truth, hath come great knowledge." And, this being so, let us seek this truth, the understanding of which means so much. In this statement of truth--this Hermetic Maxim--is concealed one of the greatest philosophical, scientific and religious truths.” — The Kybalion
In Hermetic philosophy, "The All" is considered beyond human comprehension and is seen as the source of all laws, principles, and manifestations in the universe. It is both immanent and transcendent, meaning it is present within everything while also existing beyond the physical realm.
"While All is in THE ALL, it is equally true that THE
ALL is in ALL. To him who truly understands this
truth hath come great knowledge."--The Kybalion.
Understanding "The All" is fundamental to Hermetic thought, as it provides insight into the interconnectedness of all things and the role of consciousness and mind in shaping the universe. It underscores the idea that everything is part of a unified whole, and recognizing this unity can lead to greater wisdom and mastery of the Hermetic principles.
The All is synonymous with Spirit. Spirit, though challenging to define, is often compared to an infinite, conscious mind. Mind and Spirit, in reality, are one and the same. Before anything is manifested materially, it is channeled through the creative intelligence of the energy recognized as the mind.
"And then Modern Science informs us that there is really no such thing as Matter that what we call Matter is merely "interrupted energy or force," that is, energy or force at a low rate of vibration. As a recent writer has said ' Matter has melted into Mystery." Even material science has abandoned the theory of Matter, and now rests on the basis of " Energy." “ - The Kybalion
The quote from "The Kybalion" reflects a philosophical perspective that predates modern scientific understanding but aligns with certain principles in science, particularly in the fields of quantum mechanics and particle physics.
1. **Matter as Energy:** In modern physics, there's a deep connection between matter and energy. Albert Einstein's famous equation, E=mc^2, states that energy (E) and mass (m) are interchangeable. Matter is, in essence, a concentrated form of energy. At the atomic and subatomic levels, matter is composed of particles (e.g., electrons, protons, and neutrons) that exhibit both particle-like and wave-like properties. These particles can be described as energy quanta.
2. **Vibration and Frequency:** Quantum mechanics tells us that particles exhibit wave-like properties and have associated wave functions. The concept of vibration and frequency aligns with wave-like behavior. The energy of particles can be described in terms of their frequency or rate of vibration. Higher frequencies correspond to particles with more energy.
3. **Wave-Particle Duality:** Particles like electrons, which are considered as components of matter, exhibit both particle and wave behavior. This duality means that even the smallest constituents of matter can be seen as energy waves.
4. **Energy and Mass Equivalence:** As mentioned earlier, E=mc^2 illustrates the equivalence of energy and mass. Matter can be transformed into energy and vice versa. Nuclear reactions, such as those in the sun, convert matter (hydrogen) into energy (light and heat).
5. **Abandoning the Concept of "Solid" Matter:** Traditional notions of "solid" matter have been challenged by the realization that atoms are mostly empty space with a tiny, dense nucleus and electrons in orbit. Particles at the quantum level do not behave like tiny billiard balls but as probabilistic clouds of energy.
While modern science doesn't attribute consciousness or divine qualities to the concept of energy, it acknowledges the interplay between matter and energy. This interplay is fundamental to understanding the behavior of the physical universe, and it aligns with the idea that what we perceive as "matter" is, at its core, a manifestation of energy in various states and forms.
For something to be really understood AND so, therefore, embodied it needs to be grasped not just by our logic, but by our heart as well, not just by our analytical mind, but engaging our energy body and our senses as well - we need to engage both of our masculine and feminine qualities, both hemispheres of our brain, and so on. So, only spiritual “woo woo” is not going to make you understand it. Neither only science based facts. I would suggest you study both of these extremes and then somewhere along the way, you will feel a sense of balance and truth, and realisation come to you. The union of two opposites as the One. As The All.
The Universe is fractal. That’s one of the biggest realizations you can have.
There are 7 Hermetic principles. But they fit into one Principle. There are 7 major energy points in our body (chakras). But beyond our physical body, there’s just One Energy center. Whenever I describe 1 hermetic principle, I inevitably touch upon the other 6, because all of the other principles are inside of each single principle. So, when we will be delving into the practical approaches of the hermetic principles, you will be able to notice this pattern.
